Any new moms out there? This one is for you. We chatted with Michelle Brugal, of Brugal Body Moves to talk about how she manages to find her balance while also managing her 10.5-month-old daughter, Luna. She definitely knows what it’s like to juggle multiple things! Read on for our conversation with Michelle.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi! My name is Michelle, I'm a dance and fitness professional. I grew up mainly in Miami, Florida and relocated to NYC 17 years ago. I've been performing for the past 13 years and private training/teaching group fitness for the past 8. I'm incredibly lucky to be the mother of an 10.5-month-old, sweet girl named Luna and to live in a city where every passion, interest or whim I have can be explored, pursued and conquered.

What is balance to you?

Balance means time. Time for myself. Time for my career. Time for my family and time for leisure.

How do you achieve balance?

As my life evolves, priorities have changed and being flexible about what deserves my time the most, in that very moment, allows me to achieve balance.

What advice do you have for someone struggling to find work/life balance?

You can't do it all, all the time, to the best of your ability. The pie chart of life is not, and shouldn't be, divided equally. So cut yourself some slack and do the best you can. If you need an accountability check, take time at the end of your day or week (or whenever) and write a list of goals/accomplishments. Big or small- doesn't matter. Just check in with yourself and celebrate the victories as you worked towards the unfinished business.

Do you have any go-to resources or rituals that help you find balance?

When I'm mentally/physically overwhelmed, my go to is yoga/restorative stretch. Whether i take a class or self -practice it helps me remember to breath, calm down and find perspective.

Now let’s have some fun, what are some random things we don’t know about you?

I love cooking and cleaning! Food for nourishment that also brings joy to your tastes buds is a passion. I find cleaning to be cathartic and makes my OCD so happy!
